Hello Dear One,
Lots of things scare me. Big decisions. Change. World Events.
Putting the latter aside, I can rattle off a list of fears I’ve had in the last few months:
Rejection
Making the ‘wrong’ investments
Making the ‘wrong’ decisions
Not currently having a pension
All the things I’ll have to deal with when I’m old enough to need a pension
‘Wasting my time’
Meeting, or not meeting new people
Running out of money
Getting in the sea, after months of not getting in the sea.
Writing this list activates fear, I feel it as a tightness in my chest. My anxious self wrote it – especially those inverted commas parts, which I don’t even believe. As soon as I air things, put them down in black and white, they lose their power. Like all of us, I feel most afraid when there are things out of my control – yet so many things are. Honour the feeling. Soothe yourself. Then, decide how to move forward.
I hope it helps. You can come to this when you’re making a big decision, or when everything just feels scary. What IS important is not to fall into self-judgement and dismiss ourselves. Instead, fear can teach us so much about who we are and what matters.
Thanks for being here and being you.
All love,
Jo
MARCH in ME: Inner Critic
This month the ME membership explores how to quieten our critical inner voices and shift old patterns – work we need to stand up for what we believe in and know that we can make a difference. There’s also lots of space to ground and come back to yourself, as well as last month’s self-compassion content to dig into.
