Write to Be Present
Hello Dear One,
How are you? I hope finding space and time to be kind to yourself. Do this actively: it’s the foundation of how you show up in the world, what you have to give and how you choose to give it.
I write this knowing lockdown restrictions are coming in Scotland. This troubles me. However, nothing has happened yet. I am ok now, so I AM ok–I choose to remind myself.
This week’s letter is about staying present. So much suffering comes from projecting ourselves into the future or sinking into the past. When we stay with what is true right now ease is possible.
Sometimes, during the first lockdown, I would just lie on the floor. I wasn’t feeling myself enough to video chat, or proactive enough for creative projects. Instead, I had to lie on the floor until I felt better. It’s on the list of things I do to support myself. Today is Autumn Equinox, the time of year when day is the same length as night. There will always be darkness and light, in different balances. Lean in. Know that you can support yourself. When your mind drags you away with a million But what about… come back and feel your heartbeat. Breathe.
Thanks for being here, and being you.
All love,
Jo
