Hello Dear One,
I had a realisation last week – I need a break. I’ve been working almost daily since I took a year out of my teaching job last July: on Write to Thrive, on my novel and on tutoring students for exams. When I haven’t been working I’ve often been thinking about working, something I know isn’t healthy.
So, I’m taking a step back, reclaiming days just for myself, focused on fun and joy. I’m having actual weekends. Yet, of course, there’s resistance. My critical voice doesn’t like resting very much and is quick to warn me things are under threat. What a beautiful thing, I say, to find my own pace.
I hope it helps. As ever, our brains respond well to facts – so making a list of the reasons to do something soothes an anxious voice and helps us ground in reality.
Take it from someone who once had to stop everything: breaks are necessary. When we return, it’s much easier to find flow. Plus, in these silences, these still spaces, I often have my best ideas.
Thanks for being here and being you; wishing you a beautiful week.
All love,
Jo

Write to Hit Pause
This just validated my afternoon on the couch watching TV and eating ice cream after a stress-filled week of pushing myself too hard on a writing project. For once I didn’t try to work through it. Thanks, Jo!
